An Attitude of Gratitude  Premium Content - Click for Info

I determined never to allow myself to become discontent again.

Just outside Kalispell, Montana, where I had a speaking engagement, I pulled my car off the road and turned off the engine. Opening the door, I zipped my coat against the crisp air and stood mesmerized by the autumn beauty surrounding me.

Later I called my husband from my motel room. "Steve! I've found the perfect town! Every street is tree-lined, every church has a steeple, every park has a gazebo. ...

Thank you very much for your article. I have been having mental wars lately. It is good to know you are not alone in these wars. I have been trying to quieten myself by less activity. I now know my healing comes from "thinking" of what God has done and not what he has not done. This produces gratitude. I'm really so glad am not alone cos sometimes I just feel terrible with discontent.

Sometimes, just knowing that you are not alone is enough to start the healing process. I moved around alot as a child and even though my adult life longed for stability, when I finally received it, I became bored. Thanks for sharing your story. It's nice to know that our weaknesses actually can be someone elses strength. God Bless You

Yes Mayo, it is great to take personal lessons in life and to be content. But as Judy says above, did you go back to do the needful in that old woman's life or did you look back and find she was nowhere to be seen? We are here for one purpose, to move His kingom forward. Reach out. Blessings.

I can relate to your concern about discontentment. I struggle with the same thing. You're right when you say we are right where God wants us to be. I have one concern about your article, though. What happened to the elderly lady with no coat and no shoes? Did you go back to help her?
