I appreciate the idea of God engraving my name on his hand etc. but I could not believe the author would write "I'm in awe of people who have the guts (I would say stupidity) to get a tattoo.........physical bravery & social courage etc.... Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. I don't believe that God would appreciate me defacing my body with a tattoo. Check scripture!

So many people look at the verse in Leviticus 19:28 and say tattoos are a sin. However, this verse clearly states that one should not cut or mark their body in regard to the dead (an ancient pagan practice). It is a way of the priest standing out from the pagan practices. Let us remember, "God does not look at the outward (physical) appearance, but he looks at the inward (spiritual) appearance." Tattoos and piercings were actually commonplace in the biblical times, despite what so many fail to see and read. However, how many Christians can claim to memorize the Torah or even the rest of the Bible like most Rabbis and their Talmidim. I suppose we as Christians have not even imprinted the Word into our minds and hearts, we simple debate hear-say from the Word. This of course breaks the greatest of all commands (Deut. 6:4-9). Great article sis!

Well, JO, tell us how you really feel! Actually, I am considering having my granddaughter's name and Talitha Koum tatooed on my old and wrinkly body to remind me that although a horrible human being took her from us, Jesus held out his loving hand and took her into His presence where she waits for her parents and for the rest of our family. God's promise brings me joy in such unbearable sorrow. I am a child of God, as are you, and we are loved...not trash.
